AJR, formed in 2005, is an American pop-rock trio from New York City made up of brothers Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met. The group began by busking in Washington Square Park, performing covers and tap dancing before transitioning to writing and producing their own lush, theatrical pop from their home studio. Their breakout single, “I’m Ready” (2013), went platinum in the U.S. and Australia, and captured attention with its clever use of a SpongeBob SquarePants sample.
