ASAP Ferg, born in Harlem in 1988, is an American rapper, singer, and visual artist whose booming voice, versatile flow, and distinctly New York swagger have made him one of the most recognizable members of the ASAP Mob collective. Born Darold Brown Ferguson Jr., he was raised in the same Harlem neighborhoods that birthed the group alongside ASAP Rocky, ASAP Yams, and ASAP Twelvyy. He grew up around fashion and creativity — his father ran the neighborhood boutique Ferg's — and studied at Manhattan's High School of Art and Design before turning his focus to music.

His breakthrough came with his debut studio album Trap Lord (2013), released via ASAP Worldwide/Polo Grounds/RCA, which produced the platinum-certified hit "Work" and its remix featuring ASAP Rocky, French Montana, Trinidad James, and ScHoolboy Q, alongside the fan favorite "Shabba" with ASAP Rocky. The album debuted in the Billboard 200 top 10 and established him as a force in his own right within the mob.
