Bastille
2010s English Indie Pop Band
About Bastille
The English indie pop band Bastille emerged in London during 2010 to create their distinctive cinematic sound with anthemic choruses and emotional lyrics. Dan Smith started Bastille as a solo project before adding Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris “Woody” Wood to form the band which quickly gained popularity through their polished genre-bending music. Their debut album, Bad Blood (2013) achieved number one status on the UK Albums Chart while their single "Pompeii" achieved Top 5 success on the Billboard Hot 100 and received multiple platinum certifications. Their second album, Wild World (2016) reached UK chart success alongside fan-favorite tracks "Good Grief" and "Send Them Off!" Their subsequent albums Doom Days (2019) and Give Me the Future (2022) maintained their success while their Marshmello collaboration "Happier" (2018) became one of the decade's biggest singles by reaching number two on both UK and U.S. charts. Bastille achieved 11 million record sales and multiple chart-topping albums while winning the BRIT Award for Best Breakthrough Act to become a leading band of the 2010s. The band continues to tour while developing their music which makes them a preferred choice for festivals, major corporate events and upscale live performances throughout the world.
