C+C Music Factory, formed in 1989 in New York City, are an American dance-pop and house music group founded by legendary producer-DJ duo Robert Clivillés and David Cole — the "C+C" in the name. Combining Clivillés' club-honed rhythms and DJ instincts with Cole's virtuoso keyboard work and R&B sensibility, the group helped pioneer the crossover of house music into mainstream pop, working alongside a rotating cast of featured vocalists and rappers including Freedom Williams, Martha Wash, and Zelma Davis to create some of the defining dance anthems of the early 1990s.

Their breakthrough came with their debut studio album Gonna Make You Sweat (1990), which went five-times platinum in the U.S. and produced their monumental smash "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" — a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1991 that has since become one of the most recognizable dance-pop anthems ever recorded, powered by Martha Wash's iconic "everybody dance now" vocal hook. The album also delivered the top 5 hits "Here We Go, Let's Rock & Roll" and "Things That Make You Go Hmmm...," and earned them Best New Artist honors at the American Music Awards.
