About Christopher Cross
Christopher Cross is a Grammy- and Academy Award-winning American singer-songwriter and guitarist whose 1980 self-titled debut made him the first artist ever to sweep the four major Grammy categories in a single night. Born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, he came up through the local rock club scene before signing with Warner Bros. Records and recording the project that would define his career.
His debut, Christopher Cross (1979), became one of the most decorated records in pop history — selling more than five million U.S. copies and producing the #1 single "Sailing," the #2 hit "Ride Like the Wind" featuring Michael McDonald, and the top-20 ballad "Never Be the Same." At the 1981 Grammys, the album swept Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, making Cross the first artist ever to win all four in one ceremony.
