Creed, formed in Tallahassee, Florida in 1994, is an American rock band known for its powerful blend of post‑grunge and hard rock. The lineup—Scott Stapp (vocals), Mark Tremonti (guitar), Brian Marshall (bass), and Scott Phillips (drums)—emerged from the Florida rock scene with emotive lyrics and soaring melodies.

Their major-label debut, My Own Prison (1997), went multi-platinum thanks to a gritty, introspective sound. Their second album, Human Clay (1999), delivered massive hits such as “Higher” (which spent 17 weeks atop rock radio) and the power-ballad “With Arms Wide Open,” the latter earning them a Grammy for Best Rock Song and pushing the album to Diamond status with over 11 million U.S. sales.
