David Lee Roth, whose career began in the late 1970s, is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and entertainer from Bloomington, Indiana. He rose to fame as the exuberant frontman of Van Halen, defined by his charismatic stage presence, powerful vocals and signature wild energy.

Roth joined Van Halen in 1974 alongside Eddie Van Halen (guitar), Alex Van Halen (drums), and Michael Anthony (bass). Their self-titled debut album (Van Halen, 1978) produced iconic tracks like “Runnin’ with the Devil” and the chart-topping hit “Jump,” cementing their status as arena-rock megastars.
