The American alternative rock band, Fountains of Wayne emerged in 1995 to become famous for their witty lyrics and catchy hooks and their power-pop sound with jangly guitars. Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger established the band by using the name of a lawn ornament store located in Wayne, New Jersey. The band gained devoted fans through their unique rock-pop fusion and their ability to tell engaging stories about characters.

The debut album of the band in 1996 introduced the college radio hit “Radiation Vibe” which established their musical direction that combined humorous and emotional elements.
