Frankie J (Francisco Javier Bautista Jr.), whose solo career began in 2003 after rising through the freestyle scene and Kumbia Kings, is a Mexican‑American singer-songwriter celebrated for his velvety R&B vocals and heartfelt, bilingual love songs.

He released his debut solo album What’s a Man to Do? in May 2003, featuring the Top 20 hit “Don’t Wanna Try.” That same year, he lent vocals to Baby Bash’s “Suga Suga,” another Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 success. In March 2005 his breakthrough album The One dropped, led by the Top 3 hit “Obsession (No Es Amor)” and companion single “More Than Words,” earning platinum certification.
