Gary Clark Jr., whose career began in the mid-1990s in Austin, Texas, is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter known for fusing blues, rock, soul, and elements of hip-hop into a modern roots sound.

He signed with Warner Bros in 2011 and released the Bright Lights EP. His major-label debut, Blak and Blu (2012), hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Blues Albums chart. It produced “Please Come Home,” earning him a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance, and earned dual-wheel nominations in rock and R&B—making him the first artist nominated in both categories in the same year.
