Gavin DeGraw, whose career began in the late 1990s playing New York City clubs, is an American singer-songwriter from South Fallsburg, New York known for his emotive voice, piano-driven pop-rock sound and deeply personal lyrics.

He broke through in 2003 with his debut album Chariot, propelled by the platinum single “I Don’t Want to Be”—which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned three gold or higher certifications—and followed by heartfelt tracks like “Follow Through” and the title song.
