Since the early 1990s, Green Velvet — the alias of Chicago producer Curtis Alan Jones — has been one of the most influential and instantly recognizable figures in house and techno music. Born and raised in Chicago, Jones grew up steeped in the city that gave birth to house music itself, and quickly established himself as one of its most distinctive second-wave voices, developing a signature sound built around driving basslines, quirky vocals, dark humor, and the kind of dance-floor-first energy that has defined his catalog for more than three decades. He also produces and performs as Cajmere and is easily recognized by his signature green mohawk.

His breakthrough came through a wave of era-defining productions on the Chicago underground, including the seminal Cajmere track "Percolator" (1992), which remains one of the most sampled and iconic house records ever made, and the massive Green Velvet crossover hit "La La Land" (2001), a genre-defining club anthem still played by DJs around the world today. Other signature tracks like "Flash," "Answering Machine," "Bigger Than Prince," and "Shake and Pop" further cemented him as one of dance music's most reliable hitmakers and one of Chicago's most recognizable ambassadors.
