Incubus, formed in 1991 in Calabasas, California by Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, José Pasillas, and later Chris Kilmore, is an American rock band celebrated for merging alternative rock, funk metal, hip‑hop and electronic influences into a distinctive, evolutionary sound.

They first gained traction with independent releases (Fungus Amongus, 1995; S.C.I.E.N.C.E., 1997) that fused heavy guitar riffs with DJ scratching and funk grooves—earning them a cult following and acclaim on alternative-metal circuits.
