Jesse McCartney, whose career began as a child actor in the late 1990s (notably on All My Children) before joining the boy band Dream Street, is an American singer-songwriter from Ardsley, New York known for his smooth vocals, earnest lyrics and multi-faceted entertainment presence.

His solo breakthrough came with the platinum-certified debut album Beautiful Soul (2004), driven by the title track that peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album earned gold status in Canada and Australia, selling over 1.5 million copies in the U.S.
