Jimmy Eat World, formed in 1993 in Mesa, Arizona by Jim Adkins, Tom Linton, Zach Lind and later Rick Burch, is an American rock band celebrated for blending energetic guitar-driven rock with emotive, thoughtful lyrics.
They gained indie buzz with their self-titled 1999 album, but broke into mainstream success with Bleed American (2001), featuring enduring emo-rock hits like “The Middle”, “Sweetness” and “A Praise Chorus.” “The Middle” reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned platinum certification.
