John Fogerty
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Guitarist and Creedence Clearwater Revival Frontman
About John Fogerty
John Fogerty, whose career began in the late 1950s, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Berkeley/El Cerrito, California. He became one of rock’s most distinctive voices as the lead singer, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), and later carved out a critically acclaimed solo career.
Fogerty formed CCR in 1968 with his brother Tom, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. The band blended swamp rock, blues, country, and rockabilly into a potent mix, producing timeless hits like “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Born on the Bayou,” and “Fortunate Son.” Between 1968 and 1972, CCR scored nine Top‑10 singles and eight gold albums, and Fogerty was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
