About Journey
Journey, formed in 1973 in San Francisco by Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, George Tickner and Prairie Prince (later joined by Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain, Steve Smith and others), is an American rock band celebrated for its powerful vocals, soaring guitar solos, and stadium-ready melodies.
Their breakthrough arrived with Infinity (1978), which introduced Steve Perry’s dynamic voice and hits like “Lights” and “Wheel in the Sky.” The band reached peak commercial success with Escape (1981), featuring the global classics “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” and “Who’s Crying Now.” Frontiers (1983) followed with anthems like “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” and “Faithfully,” solidifying their reputation for emotional rock ballads and epic production.
