The musical group, Kings of Leon originated in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999 when Caleb and Nathan Followill along with Jared Followill and Matthew Followill, formed the band. The band members Caleb (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Nathan (drums), Jared Followill (bass) and their cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar) make up the band. The band evolved from their Southern rock roots to achieve worldwide rock fame after starting in a garage environment.

The UK music critics praised their debut album, Youth and Young Manhood (2003) and Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004) which brought their raw reverb-heavy music to the public. The band started developing their anthemic style during Because of the Times (2007) but Only by the Night (2008) brought them mainstream success through massive hits "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody." The album received multiple Grammy Awards which established their position as one of the most influential rock bands of the modern era.
