Tony and Emmy-Winning Performer Known for Broadway Excellence and Vocal Versatility
About Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth is a Tony and Emmy Award-winning American actress and singer whose virtuoso coloratura soprano and decades of Broadway, television, and concert work have made her one of the most beloved performers of her generation. Born July 24, 1968, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, she earned a bachelor's in musical theater and a master's in opera performance from Oklahoma City University before choosing musical theater in New York over a scholarship to study opera.
Her Broadway debut came in 1997's Steel Pier — earning her a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical — and she won that Tony two years later for her scene-stealing turn as Sally Brown in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. In 2003, she originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the blockbuster Broadway production of Wicked, earning another Tony nomination and cementing her status as a Broadway legend.
