About KT Tunstall
KT Tunstall, whose career began in the early 2000s, is a Scottish singer-songwriter from St Andrews known for her acoustic-driven pop-rock, percussive guitar style, and pioneering use of live looping on stage. Raised in Fife and classically trained on piano and flute before picking up guitar as a teenager, she spent years on the UK folk circuit before her breakthrough moment came on Later... with Jools Holland in 2004, when a last-minute solo performance of "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" — built live with a loop pedal — launched her career overnight.
Her debut album, Eye to the Telescope (2004), went five-times platinum in the UK and produced the global hits "Suddenly I See" and "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," earning her the 2006 BRIT Award for Best British Female Solo Artist and a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. "Suddenly I See" became an anthem after its placement in the opening sequence of The Devil Wears Prada (2006), introducing her to audiences worldwide.
