A fourth-generation musician from Greenville, South Carolina, Marcus King is an American blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter widely regarded as one of the most gifted young instrumentalists in modern roots music. Born March 11, 1996, into a family of blues players — including his guitarist father Marvin King — he began performing publicly as a young teenager and formed The Marcus King Band while still in high school.

The Marcus King Band released its debut album, Soul Insight, in 2015, followed by the Warren Haynes-produced The Marcus King Band (2016) and the acclaimed Carolina Confessions (2018), which established King as a powerhouse live act and a guitarist's guitarist on the jam and Americana circuits.
