Martin Garrix emerged from the Netherlands' EDM scene as a teenage prodigy and rose to become one of the world's most successful DJs, holding the DJ Mag Top 100 #1 spot three years running. Born Martijn Gerard Garritsen on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, he was inspired to pursue music after watching fellow Dutch icon Tiësto perform at the 2004 Athens Olympics opening ceremony at age eight, and began producing his own big-room and progressive house tracks as a teenager.

His global breakthrough arrived in 2013 with "Animals," released through Spinnin' Records when he was just 16. The track topped charts in multiple countries, cracked the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, and turned him into one of dance music's most-watched young stars almost overnight.
