Pam Tillis
Grammy-Winning Country Music Veteran and Grand Ole Opry Member
About Pam Tillis
Pam Tillis is a Grammy-winning American country singer-songwriter and Grand Ole Opry member whose chart-topping early-1990s hits made her one of country radio's defining female voices of the decade. Born July 24, 1957, in Plant City, Florida, and the daughter of country legend Mel Tillis, she grew up immersed in Nashville's country music tradition before launching her own recording career.
After early forays into pop, Tillis broke through as a country artist with her 1991 album Put Yourself in My Place, which produced her signature hit "Maybe It Was Memphis." She followed with Homeward Looking Angel (1992), featuring "Shake the Sugar Tree" and "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial," and the platinum-selling Sweetheart's Dance (1994), whose lead single "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)" reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
