Roddy Ricch, whose rise began in the late 2010s, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Compton, California, known for his melodic delivery, West Coast-meets-Atlanta trap sound, and one of the most dominant debut albums in modern hip-hop. Born Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr. in 1998, he grew up in the same city that produced N.W.A., Kendrick Lamar, and The Game, and began recording music as a teenager before catching wider industry attention through his early independent mixtapes.

His breakthrough came with the mixtape Feed tha Streets II (2018), which produced the viral hit "Die Young" and led to his signing with Atlantic Records via Bird Vision Entertainment. In 2019, he appeared alongside the late Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy on "Racks in the Middle" — a collaboration that won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 2020.
