Ryan Bingham
Americana Singer-Songwriter Known for Gritty Storytelling and Award-Winning Soundtracks
About Ryan Bingham
Ryan Bingham is an Academy Award- and Grammy-winning American Americana singer-songwriter and actor whose gritty storytelling and dust-bowl honesty have made him one of the most respected voices in contemporary roots music. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1981 and raised across small towns in West Texas, he rode bulls on the rodeo circuit before turning to music in his early twenties and signing to Lost Highway Records.
His debut Mescalito (2007) introduced his weathered, sandpaper-voiced storytelling, and he followed with Roadhouse Sun (2009). His breakthrough arrived with "The Weary Kind," the theme song he co-wrote with T Bone Burnett for the 2009 Jeff Bridges film Crazy Heart — a track that won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Original Song, the Golden Globe, and the 2011 Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
