Smash Mouth
1990s American Rock Band Known for "All Star" and "Walkin' on the Sun"
About Smash Mouth
Smash Mouth, formed in San Jose, California, in 1994, is one of late-1990s alternative rock's most beloved bands, behind era-defining hits like "All Star" and "Walkin' on the Sun." Founded by lead vocalist Steve Harwell alongside guitarist and primary songwriter Greg Camp, bassist Paul De Lisle, and drummer Kevin Coleman, the band built a signature blend of pop rock, retro nods, and ska-punk energy that came to define the sound of an era.
Their 1997 debut album Fush Yu Mang introduced them with the breakout single "Walkin' on the Sun," which topped the Billboard Modern Rock chart and cracked the top 10 of the Hot 100. The follow-up Astro Lounge (1999) was their commercial peak, going triple platinum and producing the cultural smash "All Star" — a top 5 Hot 100 hit that became one of the most recognizable songs of its era.
