The Steve Miller Band started in San Francisco in 1966 as a classic rock group that combined blues guitar elements with psychedelic music and maintained successful radio hits. The San Francisco-based group formed during the late 1960s and developed into one of the most popular rock bands throughout the 1970s and 1980s under the leadership of guitarist and singer Steve Miller.

The band achieved commercial success through their blues and psychedelic rock sound which led to the release of The Joker (1973) and Fly Like an Eagle (1976) and Book of Dreams (1977) albums. The band achieved FM radio and classic rock playlist success through their hits “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,”  “Fly Like an Eagle” and “Rock’n Me.”
