About Stone Temple Pilots
The San Diego-based band, Stone Temple Pilots emerged in 1989 to become grunge rock legends who shaped alternative rock music of the 1990s through their heavy riffs, melodic hooks and dark musical style. The band emerged during the peak of grunge popularity through their unique sound after Scott Weiland (vocals) joined forces with brothers Dean (guitar), Robert DeLeo (bass) and Eric Kretz (drums) in 1989.
The band achieved multi-platinum success with Core (1992) through their hits "Plush," "Creep" and "Sex Type Thing" which led to a Grammy win for Best Hard Rock Performance and made them a staple on radio and MTV.
