She was influenced by legends such as Bonnie Raitt and Otis Redding. She first gained national attention in the late ‘90s with a sound that was a mix of blues, gospel and Southern rock.

Her breakthrough album, Just Won’t Burn (1998), featured standout tracks like “It Hurt So Bad” and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, helping to revitalize interest in contemporary blues.
