The alternative rock band Switchfoot emerged in San Diego, California in 1996 to create spiritually inspired music with catchy hooks and a commercial rock sound. The band members Jon Foreman (vocals, guitar), Tim Foreman (bass), Chad Butler (drums), Jerome Fontamillas (guitar, keyboards) and Drew Shirley (guitar) to form the group which gained fast popularity through their combination of meaningful songwriting and high-energy performances.

The Beautiful Letdown (2003) served as their major breakthrough when “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move” received extensive radio play which led to the album achieving double platinum certification.
