Formed in Atlanta in the early 1990s, Tag Team are an American hip-hop duo whose booming party anthem "Whoomp! (There It Is)" became one of the most enduring, instantly recognizable songs of the 1990s and a permanent fixture of American party culture. The duo — Cecil Glenn (DC the Brain Supreme) and Steve Gibson (Steve Roll'n) — met while working as DJs at Atlanta's famed Magic City nightclub, where they crafted the earliest version of what would become their signature song, testing hooks and chants on real dance floors long before the song went national.

Their breakthrough came with "Whoomp! (There It Is)" (1993), which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, went four-times platinum in the U.S., sold over four million copies as a single, and became one of the best-selling singles of the year.
