The Doobie Brothers
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band Known for Classic Rock and Soul Fusion
About The Doobie Brothers
The Doobie Brothers emerged in San Jose, California in 1970 as a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band that combines classic rock with soul music and Southern-tinged harmonies. The band originated with Tom Johnston and John Hartman before Patrick Simmons, Michael McDonald and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter joined to create a musical group that gained fame through their tight musicianship and diverse musical style.
The band achieved their first major success through the release of Toulouse Street (1972) and The Captain and Me (1973) which included popular songs “Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Runnin’” and “China Grove.” These tracks established themselves as essential songs for the California rock music of the 1970s.
