About The Go-Go's
The Go-Go’s emerged in Los Angeles in 1978 as an all-female rock band that brought energetic pop-punk music and became pioneers of the early 1980s musical landscape. The band members, Belinda Carlisle (vocals), Jane Wiedlin (guitar), Charlotte Caffey (guitar/keys), Kathy Valentine (bass) and Gina Schock (drums) created energetic, upbeat songs which embodied youthful rebellion.
Their debut album Beauty and the Beat (1981) achieved number one on the Billboard 200 while producing two enduring hits “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed.” The album became the first chart-topping record from an all-female band.
