Three 6 Mafia, formed in 1991 in Memphis, Tennessee, is an American hip-hop group that became one of the most influential forces in Southern rap and a founding architect of the crunk and trap sounds that came to define the region. Founded by DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard) and Juicy J (Jordan Houston), the group's classic lineup expanded to include Lord Infamous, Crunchy Black, Koopsta Knicca, and Gangsta Boo, with the collective originally known as Triple Six Mafia before shortening the name. Their dark, horror-tinged production, hypnotic 808s, and chanted hooks helped birth a template that shaped an entire generation of hip-hop.

Their breakthrough came with Mystic Stylez (1995), a landmark Memphis underground album, followed by Chapter 1: The End (1996) and Chapter 2: World Domination (1997). The group's commercial peak arrived with When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 (2000), which went platinum, and Most Known Unknown (2005), driven by the crossover hits "Stay Fly" and "Poppin' My Collar."
