Three Dog Night
Classic Rock Band Known for ’70s Harmonies and Crossover Pop Rock
About Three Dog Night
The American rock band, Three Dog Night emerged in 1967 to become famous for their precise vocal harmonies alongside numerous chart-topping hits which established their position in early 1970s pop rock. The Australian Aboriginal expression "three dog night" which describes cold outback nights served as the name for the band which consisted of vocalists Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron. Their rock-soul-pop music with a full band made them one of the most successful touring acts of that time.
The band achieved their first major success with their debut album (1968) when they released the Harry Nilsson song "One" which brought them widespread recognition. During the following six years, Three Dog Night achieved 21 consecutive Top 40 hits through songs like “Joy to the World,” “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” “Shambala,” and “Black and White.”
