Tiësto (Tijs Michiel Verwest) is a Grammy-winning Dutch DJ and record producer recognized as one of the founding figures of modern electronic dance music. He emerged from the Netherlands' active club culture during the late 1990s to popularize trance and EDM music worldwide. His career exploded through his long DJ performances and his ability to create energetic musical combinations which became popular worldwide.

The 2001 release of In My Memory established his position as an international trance force through the success of “Lethal Industry” and “Flight 643.” Tiësto achieved a historic milestone in 2004 when he became the first DJ to perform at an Olympic Games through his live performance at the Athens opening ceremony.
