About Tone Loc
Tone Loc (Anthony Smith) was born in 1966 and became an American rapper and actor from Los Angeles, California, who gained fame through his raspy voice and party anthems. The West Coast hip-hop scene produced Tone Loc as a pop culture icon through his creative wordplay and his distinctive use of funk-infused samples in the late 1980s.
The debut album Lōc-ed After Dark (1989) achieved number one on the Billboard 200 through the commercial success of “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.”
