Toto emerged in 1977 as a Los Angeles-based American rock band that gained fame through their musical fusion, exceptional musicianship and their enduring anthems. Before forming Toto, the original members David Paich (keyboards), Steve Lukather (guitar), Jeff Porcaro (drums), Steve Porcaro (keyboards), David Hungate (bass)  and Bobby Kimball (vocals) had already accumulated hundreds of famous recording credits as top session musicians.

The band released their self-titled debut in 1978 with "Hold the Line" as their lead single, but Toto IV (1982) became their breakthrough success by winning six Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for the number-one single "Rosanna."
