Vince Gill is a 21-time Grammy Award-winning American country music artist, songwriter, and guitarist whose four-decade career has made him one of the most decorated and universally respected figures in country music history. Born Vincent Grant Gill in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1957, he began playing guitar as a child and cut his teeth in bluegrass and country groups throughout the late 1970s — including stints with Bluegrass Alliance, Boone Creek, and Sundance — before joining Pure Prairie League as lead vocalist and singing lead on their 1980 hit "Let Me Love You Tonight."

His breakthrough as a solo artist came after signing with MCA Records in 1989, releasing When I Call Your Name — an album whose title track won CMA Single and Song of the Year and earned him his first Grammy.
