Warpaint is a Los Angeles-based indie rock band that emerged in 2004 to create atmospheric music with hypnotic rhythms through their experimental songwriting methods. The original members Emily Kokal (vocals/guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals/guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass), Shannyn Sossamon (drums) developed a dark and complex musical style which merged elements of post-punk, dream pop and psychedelic music. The group achieved its distinctive sound after Stella Mozgawa joined as drummer in 2009.

The debut EP "Exquisite Corpse" (2008) received critical praise through John Frusciante's production work before the group released their full-length debut "The Fool" (2010) which critics linked to Cocteau Twins and Radiohead.
