Wilson Phillips brought together three children of pop royalty to become one of the best-selling vocal groups of the early 1990s. Formed in Los Angeles in 1989, the trio features sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson — daughters of Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson — alongside Chynna Phillips, daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, with the group's name drawn directly from their two legendary musical families.

Their self-titled debut album, Wilson Phillips (1990), became a global phenomenon, selling more than 10 million copies worldwide and ranking among the best-selling albums ever by an all-female group. It produced three consecutive #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles — "Hold On," "Release Me," and "You're in Love" — and earned the trio five Grammy Award nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
