Hip-Hop Icon Known for the 1989 Hit “Bust a Move”
About Young MC
Young MC (Marvin Young) was born in London before moving to Los Angeles, where he became a hip-hop legend through his 1989 hit song "Bust a Move." Young MC established himself as a leading voice in late ’80s and early ’90s rap through his combination of clever wordplay and infectious beats and charismatic delivery. The debut album "Stone Cold Rhymin'" (1989) received critical and commercial success because of "Bust a Move" which won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance and became an enduring hip-hop and pop cultural reference.
Young MC released his second and third albums "Brainstorm" (1991) and "What's the Flavor?" (1993) which demonstrated his lyrical skills and musical range while keeping his fan base intact. His debut success did not repeat itself in his later work yet his music continues to live on through his classic songs and his regular appearances at nostalgic events.
