About Ziggy Marley
Ziggy Marley was born in 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica to music legend Bob Marley. Born in the midst of reggae's golden era Ziggy Marley developed his own music style which combined his father's legacy with his unique artistic expression. During the 1980s, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers emerged as a band when he joined forces with his siblings Sharon, Cedella and Stephen to create music that merged traditional reggae with pop, rock and soul elements.
Their debut album "Conscious Party" (1988) produced by Talking Heads members Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth became a major hit with the single "Tomorrow People" which led to their first Grammy win for Best Reggae Album. Their musical success continued with albums "One Bright Day" and "Jahmekya" which established their position in worldwide music traditions.
