ZZ Top
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band Known for Texas Blues Rock
About ZZ Top
The Texas-based rock band ZZ Top emerged in 1969 from Houston to deliver their unique blend of Texas blues and boogie rock music along with humorous lyrics. The rock music world witnessed one of its longest-running power trios through the unchanged lineup of Billy Gibbons (guitar, vocals) and Dusty Hill (bass, vocals) and Frank Beard (drums) for more than fifty years. ZZ Top established their unique position in American music through their distinctive beards and sunglasses combined with their confident stage presence.
The band released Tres Hombres (1973) and Fandango! (1975) which generated hits through their fusion of Southern blues elements with gritty guitar riffs in songs like “La Grange,” “Tush,” and “Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers.”
