070 Shake
Genre-Blending Alt-R&B Artist Known for Vocals on Kanye West's "Ghost Town"
About 070 Shake
070 Shake emerged from North Bergen, New Jersey's 070 collective in the mid-2010s as one of the most distinctive voices in a new generation of genre-blurring artists. Born Danielle Balbuena in 1997 to Dominican-American parents, she started uploading music to SoundCloud with her local crew before catching the attention of Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, which signed her in 2016. Her sound blends alt-R&B, hip-hop, indie rock, and pop into an unclassifiable style that has drawn comparisons to Kid Cudi.
Her breakthrough came in 2018 when she delivered a scene-stealing feature on Kanye West's Ye, closing the album's centerpiece track "Ghost Town" with the now-iconic refrain "And nothing hurts anymore, I feel kinda free." Her verses on "Ghost Town" and "Violent Crimes" earned widespread critical acclaim and immediately positioned her as one of hip-hop's most-watched breakout voices, leading to features on projects including Pusha T's Daytona and Kids See Ghosts.
