Booker T. Jones
Grammy Award-Winning Soul Legend and Hammond B3 Pioneer
About Booker T. Jones
Booker T. Jones, whose career began in the early 1960s, is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer from Memphis, Tennessee. As the founding member of Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Jones helped define the soul sound at Stax Records with his signature Hammond B3 organ grooves and instrumental hits that became the backbone of southern soul. Their debut single, “Green Onions” (1962) became an instant classic—toppling charts worldwide and earning gold certification with its infectious riff and bluesy vibe. Jones and the M.G.’s followed with albums such as Green Onions and Soul Dressing, providing the rhythmic foundation for legends including Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Sam & Dave. Jones later earned stardom as a solo artist and collaborator. Albums like Melting Pot (1971) and Potato Hole (2009) highlighted his versatility, blending soul, jazz and rock. He also produced for heavyweights such as Eric Clapton, Jonny Lang and Eddie Floyd. With over 50 years of influence, multiple Grammy wins and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Booker T. remains a towering figure in music history. His pioneering organ sound and enduring legacy make him an exceptional choice for gala concerts, corporate showcases and high-end festivals.
