George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic
Funk Legends Known for Psychedelic Sounds and Stage Theatrics
About George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic
George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, also known as P-Funk, are the pioneers of funk music who are known for their experimental sound, psychedelic visuals and theatrical live performances. Led by the visionary George Clinton, the collective emerged in the late 1960s and ’70s as two sister acts Funkadelic, rooted in rock and soul, and Parliament, leaning into horns and classic funk grooves. Together, they redefined the genre with layered arrangements, cosmic themes, and an irreverent sense of style.
Their breakthrough came with Parliament’s “Mothership Connection” (1975), featuring the anthem “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucker),” a track that became synonymous with the P-Funk sound.
