Jon B. (Jonathan David Buck), whose career began in the mid-1990s, is an American R&B vocalist, songwriter, and producer known for his silky voice and nostalgic 1990s ballads. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, and raised in Pasadena, California, his familial roots in classical music laid the foundation for his soulful, emotion‑driven sound.

He broke through with his debut album Bonafide (1995), which went gold and featured the Grammy-nominated Top 10 hit “Someone to Love” (featuring Babyface). His next record, Cool Relax (1997), earned platinum status and produced the radio staples “They Don’t Know” and “Are U Still Down” (featuring Tupac Shakur).
