Keith Sweat
R&B Legend Known for 1990s Slow Jams and Soulful Ballads
About Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat was born in Harlem, New York, and he began his music journey in the mid‑1970s performing with a regional group before rising to fame as a central figure in the New Jack Swing movement with his debut solo album Make It Last Forever (1987), co-written with Teddy Riley. This release produced signature hits like “I Want Her” (No. 1 R&B), establishing the smooth yet gritty sound that would become his hallmark.
Following that breakthrough, his follow-up albums—I’ll Give All My Love to You (1990) and Keep It Comin’ (1991)—delivered an impressive run of No. 1 R&B singles, blending slow-jam balladry with rhythmic swagger. Tracks like “I’ll Give All My Love to You” continue to resonate as timeless romantic standards.
