The Temptations
Motown Legends Known for Soulful Harmonies and Timeless Hits
About The Temptations
The Temptations emerged as Motown pioneers in 1960 from Detroit to become one of America's most influential vocal groups in musical history. The original Temptations members, Otis Williams, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin and Elbridge “Al” Bryant formed the group which later added David Ruffin to their lineup. Through their unique combination of soul music with R&B and pop elements, they established the musical identity of their generation.
The Temptations achieved fame under Motown Records starting in 1961 when they released their classic songs “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and “I Wish It Would Rain” and “Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me).” The 1964 release of “My Girl” marked their first number-one single while establishing itself as a timeless classic in pop music history.
